Application Review Will Begin On January 30, 2024. Hiring Range Of $69,231 - $82,000, Depending Upon Experience And Qualifications. A 5% Salary Increase Would Be Given After A Successful Six-month Probationary Period. The Position Will Report Directly To The City’s Experienced Public Works Director And Will Be Involved In All Aspects Of The Department’s Work. We Are Seeking Applicants With A Strong Sense Of Responsibility And The Skills To Assist With The Day-to-day Management And Strategic Planning Of Marion’s Public Works Department. The Position Provides Opportunities For Both Focused Office Work And Boots-on-the-ground Interaction With City Staff, Residents, Engineers, Contractors And Others. General Description Of Duties: This Position Performs Responsible Technical, Administrative, And Managerial Work Overseeing A Variety Of Programs, Projects, And Functions As Assigned, Including, But Not Limited To Any Combination Of The Following: Street Maintenance, Sanitation, Fleet Maintenance, Buildings And Grounds Maintenance, Water Treatment And Distribution, Wastewater Treatment And Collection, Management Of Capital Projects, And Management Of Safety Programs. Work Requires Significant Skill And Experience In Public Works And/or Utilities Administration, Project Management, And Personnel Management. Work Also Requires Knowledge Of The Modern Methods Used In The Construction And Repair Of Water And Sewer Lines And/or Streets And Storm Drainage And General Knowledge Of The Principles Of Engineering Relevant To Same. Work Subjects The Employee To Inside And Outside Environmental Conditions, And The Employee May Be Exposed To Loud Noise, Moving Mechanical Parts, Chemicals, Fumes, Odors, Dust, And Other Potential Safety Hazards. Work May Be Subject To OSHA Standards Regarding Confined Space Entry. Work Requires Considerable Self-initiative, Interaction With The Public, And The Ability To Use Independent Judgment In The Performance Of Duties. Work Is Performed Under The General Direction Of The Public Works Director And Is Evaluated Based On How Efficiently And Effectively The Assigned Areas Of Responsibility Are Performed And Managed, The Application Of Independent Judgment To Decision Making And Problem Solving, And The Effectiveness Of Personnel Administration.
